U7/8 -- New Opponents, New Rules...and a Goalie!

Moving into U7 brings big changes for our players.   Now they practice as individual teams, once a week, along with other U7 teams, at their home park, Lillooet Field up on Dilworth.    Saturday games will be against other KYSA teams, but also against U7 teams from the other clubs in the area (Mission, Westside, Rutland and Lake Country).  Home games will be played at Lillooet Field, with away games all over the Central Okanagan area.

As the players progress into U7, new rules are introduced.   A goalie is added, making it 4 vs 4 soccer.  Coaches will still be on the field during games, and two games will still go on simultaneously.  Sometimes our beginning referees will be available to call games.  Goal kicks and corner kicks are introduced.  No scores or standings are kept at this level.

Players in U8 will have no changes in rules from last season, but will continue to learn new skills and develop the team concept more fully.

At the end of the season, all teams will participate in the COYSA mini-jamboree, playing two mini games against opponents in a fun wrapup on the first Saturday or Sunday in October.
